This one time at Supanova Brisbane....

So I was going to write a detailed review of my adventures at Supanova Brisbane, but then the lazy side of me won out and I did this instead....

I thought the event was well organised and the volunteers were great.

I do think however, that it was ridiculous that we weren't allowed to take photographs in the signing area or video tape during the panels. What was with that?

Anyway despite that, I had the best time. Seriously, there aren't enough good adjectives that I could use to adequately describe how good it was.

I got to hang out with a very good friend of mine for the weekend, plus I got to meet up with some of my wonderful online friends who are such lovely people. It was also great chatting to other fans, sharing our experiences.

The best bit by far though, was meeting two of my favourite people - Lena Headey and Zoie Palmer.

Lena and Zoie were both so lovely. Friendly, down to earth women who were so incredibly funny.

Plus, if you take how beautiful they are on screen and multiply that by at least 100, you'll get an understanding of just how stunningly beautiful they both are in person.

I was very proud of the fact that I didn't make an idiot of myself, well not too big of an idiot. Although I did make Lena laugh when we had our photo taken.

The thing that surprised me the most was how nervous I was meeting Zoie. I'd never been like that meeting anyone, I basically fangirled hard. But Zoie was lovely, gave me a great big hug which I'm sure you'll all agree, makes everything better!

Meeting Lena and Zoie far exceeded my expectations and cemented my support and appreciation of them both - fan for life.

All I need to know now is, when's the next one??

Supanova Pop Culture Expo - Brisbane

The Supanova Pop Culture Expo is on in Brisbane from the 8th - 10th November. I've never been to this type of thing before but when I found out that the lovely Zoie Palmer is going to be there the decision was made.

There are some other awesome folks that will be there (Summer Glau to name just one) so my tickets have been purchased and I'm just a little bit excited....

Face 2 Face (Europe Version)

In 2011 Katherine Brooks made a documentary called Face 2 Face which followed her journey to meet 50 random Facebook friends to explore how someone can have so many Facebook friends, yet feel alone and isolated.

As a follow up, she is heading to Europe to meet 20 of her Facebook friends (who she has never met) to find out the true meaning behind a friendship.

Kat is raising money for the film over on Kickstarter, with 18 days left there is a little way to go to reach her goal of $50000 - so if you can, head on over and help her out.

Static the movie

The lovely, talented Tanya Lemke is making a movie - Static the Movie. It's a film based on the short story by Robert Shearman.

Tanya and her team are crowd funding for it over on Indiegogo. With less than a day to go they are just short of their $15000 target, so if you've got some spare change head on over and help them out.

Ok I'll be honest, until recently I had no idea who Amanda Brugel was. I was introduced to her through her involvement with the movie Sex After Kids and I'm glad I was.

Not only is she a very talented, funny lady, she is also someone who is trying to do good through her not for profit organisation know as Brugs Army.

So if you have some spare time (and money) check out the Brugs Army at the below links and help support this amazing lady and what she is trying to achieve.

Lost Girl - Best Laid Plans (PG-13)

Pairing: No pairing really although mention of Bo Dennis/Lauren Lewis.
Summary: My take on what exactly is going on at the end of season 3 - from Lauren's point of view.
Lost Girl was created by Michelle Lovretta and is Copyright © Canwest Global and Prodigy Pictures.

It seems like such a simple plan.

I know Hale didn't mean to play on my feelings for Bo, but he must have known I’d agree without putting much thought into it.

Agreeing with the plan in theory has been so much easier than putting things into action.

Telling Bo I needed time away from us was the hardest. God, the look on her face nearly broke my heart. I had to fight the urge to chase after her, tell her I was wrong and have hot “my girlfriend is a succubus” sex.

But I need to do this. If what Hale and Trick said is true, Bo’s father is planning to come for her, to use her in an evil scheme for his own gain. As Kenzi would say, the shit is about to hit the fan.

So here I am, sitting on my couch holding the Ash’s necklace in my hand and going over everything in my head. It symbolises so much for such a small piece of metal and not wearing it is surreal and in a weird way it seems wrong.

As the time to leave draws nearer, the knot in my stomach gets tighter. I’m taking a big risk doing this. I’ll be in enemy territory with no way of sounding the alarm if it all goes wrong. But I’ve been in dangerous situations before.

Taking a last look around my apartment I know I’ll never come back here. That thought should scare me, but I actually find it strangely comforting.

Whatever happens, this is the start of something new. If all goes well it will be the start of a life together with Bo. If it all goes badly, well I guess I won’t be around to see what that’s like.

The Ash’s pendant suddenly feels heavy and I can’t stand to look at it any more. Placing it in the draw I remember that I’ve still got my phone. Taking it out of my pocket I can’t help myself and I flick through the contacts until I find Bo.

I’m tempted to call her, make up some excuse to hear her voice one last time. But if this plan is to work I can’t do that. I’m about to run off and join the dark side so a phone call to my girlfriend, sorry, my ex-girlfriend isn’t such a great idea.

Exiting the contacts I put the phone down. Even if I wanted to I can’t pull out now. The ball started rolling all those weeks ago when I called Hale with my concerns about Bo.

Things are about to get ugly and I just hope that Hale and his plan are a work of genius and not those of a fool.

The End.

Question about my Lost Girl story Destiny?

I'd like to thank everyone who has taken the time to read my Lost Girl story Destiny. An even bigger thank you to everyone for your feedback and comments on the story, I really appreciate them all.

I thought I'd answer the most often asked question that you guys ask me - will there be a sequel?

The short answer is no, I don't have any plans to write a sequel - in the immediate future.

The long answer is, basically real life has been kicking my ass lately. While I have a whole bunch of ideas, my writing has taken a back seat.

Gladly though things are starting to settle down and I hope to be writing a whole lot more soon.

As I said I have a whole bunch of ideas, but none of them really fit as a sequel and I've decided to work on the ideas I have to see where they lead.

While I have no plans to write a sequel, I'll never say never because you never know what's going to pop into my head - the right idea might come along and hey presto....but don't hold your breath!!

Damned if they do, damned if they don't....

You know I don't envy the power's that be over at Lost Girl when it comes time to decide who will be with Bo at the end.

If they pair her with Dyson, people will say that they crumbled to the pressure and all those statements they made during the making of the show about acceptance and equality were just words.

But if they pair her with Lauren, some will say that they are pandering to the "gays".

Of course, they could not have her with either of them, in which case people will say they chickened out....

Nope, I don't envy them at all, good luck with that one guys....

Lost Girl - Destiny (NR-17)

Pairing: Bo Dennis/Lauren Lewis.
Summary: My take on the show. Bo and Lauren's destiny.
Lost Girl was created by Michelle Lovretta and is Copyright © Canwest Global and Prodigy Pictures.

* * * *

I'm meeting Dyson at the Dal to go over some information for my latest case. It's quiet tonight, with only a few of the regulars mingling.

As I make my way to the bar, I'm surprised to see Lauren sitting at one end engrossed in conversation with Trick.

Getting closer I can see a row of empty shot glasses sitting on the bar between them. I catch what Trick is saying as he pours another drink, “this is the last one Lauren, you need to go home”.

Picking up the shot glass, Lauren raises it into the air as if proposing a toast, “home sweet home.”

I catch Tricks eye as I sit on the bar stool next to the beautiful doctor, he gives me a pleading look as he moves away to serve another patron.

Since Nadia woke up, I haven't seen much of Lauren and I'm a bit taken back by what I see. Especially when she finally registers that someone is sitting next to her and she turns to face me, I almost don't recognise her. Her skin is pale, she has large bags under her eyes and her eyes, which are always so expressive, are empty.

At least she knows who I am, “well if it isn't my favourite succubus, hello Bo.”

"Hi Lauren.”

I indicate the collection of glasses in front of her, “so, you celebrating something?”

She looks down at the shot glasses and then back at me, “you could say that.”

Saluting me with the shot in her hand Lauren throws it back and then slams the glass down on the bar. The loud noise makes me jump.

Swivelling her chair around to face me, she grips the bar to hold herself up. “I thought I was just living my life, you know. Going along minding my own business.”

Leaning towards me she lowers her voice, “what a fucking joke that was huh.”

I've seen many sides to Lauren, but this is new and it's a little unsettling.

"What are you talking about?”

She continues on as though she didn't hear me, “I really am stupid, thinking it was all a big coincidence.”

Picking up one of the empty shot glasses, Lauren stares at it, “I should have known, should have figured it out. But I was too damn busy thinking I had something to save that I missed the big picture.”

She looks back at me, her eyes intense, “and then you came along and took my breath away.”

I reach out and take her hand, “Lauren, what's going on? I can help you, but you need to talk to me.”

She glances behind me and rolls her eyes. I turn around and see two of the Ash-holes goons heading our way.

Lauren suddenly stands and I grab her waist to steady her as she sways. Pressing herself against me, she talks low enough so only I can hear.

"I love you Bo, I always will.”

Her words make my heart swell and I can't help but smile.

"But you were right to choose Dyson. He can protect you, be everything that you need.”

Wait, what??

"Be careful though Bo, he knows more than he's telling you. And Trick, well he knows everything.”

She leans forward and brushes her lips against mine.

"Goodbye Bo.”

Lauren gets halfway to the two goons before turning around. Reaching up, she takes hold of her necklace and tugs at it, breaking the chain.

She walks back and hands it to me, “something to remember me by. You were right Bo, nobody owns me.”

As I look down to see the Ash's pendant in the palm of my hand, my confusion grows.

When I look up to say something to her, Lauren and the goons are gone.
